The differences between aluminum alloy and stainless steel

Aluminum alloy has a low density but high strength, comparable to or even surpassing high-quality steel. It has good plasticity and can be processed into various profiles. It also has excellent conductivity, thermal conductivity, and corrosion resistance, making it widely used in industry, with usage second only to steel.

Some aluminum alloys can be heat-treated to obtain good mechanical, physical, and corrosion resistance properties. Heat treatable alloys are characterized by high hardness but poor plasticity. However, they have poor corrosion resistance and soften quickly at high temperatures. They also have excellent thermal plasticity and are suitable for forging, hence they are also called forgeable aluminum alloys.

Stainless steel is mainly composed of nickel and chromium, making it resistant to corrosion. When there is a requirement for corrosion resistance in the production of certain products, stainless steel is typically used. Additionally, stainless steel can be processed to achieve a desired appearance, which is often more aesthetically pleasing and smoother than aluminum alloy.

However, stainless steel is more expensive than aluminum alloy.
